I know patients are tracked by MRN#’s. Administration is asking if CPN can track patients using encounter numbers. Has anyone been able to track patients in CPN using encounter numbers?
We would like the same information! Every other system/EMR uses Encounter numbers here as well. We have had issues in the past where a patient record didn’t archive out for some reason, then the patient comes back in the same year for a second pregnancy birth, the nurse pulls up their old record and documents the new pregnancy with the old one. The data becomes jumbled/merged between the two without any way to separate the two cases. Is there a specific reason why Encounter numbers are not used?
Lori, we had the same issue in the past. Then we got help from GE to set up/enable PtD jobs so our delivered charts get archived promptly. Someone should be reviewing folders and investigate why charts did not archive.
Btw, I would also like to know if there is a way to introduce account numbers in GE CPN. We do it manually for NST patients only for billing purposes.
